Cheer

I participated in cheer leading for South Lyon High School from 2017-2018, although I only cheered for one school year I had an amazing experience. Through cheer leading I learned about teamwork, time management, and responsibility. In cheer if you did not show up for practice your whole stunt group could not go up, so you not only had to be there, but you had to be there on time. Cheer leading is also a very dangerous sport so you had to stay ahead and focused, or you would be at risk for injuring yourself or others if you were not being responsible. Overall cheer leading was one of the best experiences that I will never forget.

Dance

Dancing has always been a hobby of mine, I have participated in many dance competitions through my dance studio. Dance taught me valuable life skills such as hard work, determination, and sportsmanship. Since I was 11 I wanted to become good at my art which called for hard work and lead to determination. At a young age I learned that you can't always win and you have to be a good sport, and keep adhering through not only dance but life itself.

Peer

I have been a peer for four semesters of my high school career. The peer program was designed for students to help kids in general and special education. Although the program is not seen as a traditional elective, I see it as the most beneficial. I find nothing more powerful and moving than to take an hour out of your day to help someone rather than taking a traditional art class you can take anytime. Peers has taught me patience, kindness, and sympathy.
